A tap is a tool used to process internal threads. The tap used in machining center 1165 for drilling and milling hard materials is different from most drilling and milling tools. Under normal circumstances, the cutting edge of the tap is relatively thin, and the overall strength is not high. When processing some hard workpiece materials that are difficult to cut, chipping of the cutting edge is prone to cause tool failure.
The comprehensive processing performance of the processing center is strong, and the hard and strong steel is the more common processing material. Preventing the chipping of the cutting edge and the breakage of the tap during the machining process has become a point that we must pay attention to in our daily machining process. Although the tap is easy to damage, as long as we operate it properly, it will not affect our normal tapping processing.
In order to avoid the problems encountered by the tap during the tapping process, the operation method should be improved from the following aspects.
Spindle power of machining center
During the tapping process, the small machining center should work smoothly, the spindle runout should be less than 0.005mm, and there are strict requirements on the accuracy of the impact tool. After the tap is installed on the tool system, the runout of the machine tool spindle should be less than 0.02mm.
Tool system
A rigid tool system should be used to avoid the use of floating connections to avoid the taps from chipping. And the machining process should be equipped with oil-based cutting fluid, if not available, water-soluble cutting fluid can be used instead.
Reasonable cutting speed
In the process of tapping, the cutting speed should be controlled within a reasonable range. When tapping cast iron screw holes, the cutting speed is controlled at (20-25)m/min; when tapping aluminum alloy screw holes, the cutting speed is controlled at (24-30)m/min.
