There is no single "correct" answer in mechanical design.
Take, for instance, a simple design task: moving a part from location A to location B. If ten different experienced designers were to tackle this, the resulting designs would all differ. The design process entails numerous decisions-such as choosing between a pneumatic cylinder and an electric motor for the drive source, selecting a specific manufacturer and specification, deciding whether to use a mechanical chuck or a vacuum suction cup for gripping, and determining the material, dimensions, tolerances, surface roughness, and surface treatment for each component. Consequently, it is impossible for the ten designs to be identical.
Ultimately, only God knows whether the finished product represents a perfect score of 100. Yet, it is precisely this aspect that makes mechanical design so fascinating. It is not a realm with a single right answer, but rather a field where you can fully express your individuality.
