The AES100 engine is my country's first 1000kW-class advanced civil turboshaft engine with international competitiveness and completely independent intellectual property rights, which can meet the power requirements of 5-6 ton twin-engine and 3-4 ton single-engine helicopters.
This type of engine life, fuel consumption and other technical indicators have reached the international fourth-generation turboshaft engine technology level, equipped with an independent health management system; the target price is equivalent to foreign engines of the same power, low operation and maintenance costs , and good economy throughout the life cycle; Development is carried out in strict accordance with airworthiness requirements, the mean time between failures exceeds 550 hours, and the entire envelope is safe and reliable.
Having been dormant for so many years, China's aviation development has gradually shown us the results over the past two years. The AES100 project was established in 2016 and completed the first prototype trial production in 2018. It passed the key link of the new machine test, which is running in accordance with the program, and successfully reached 100% of the design speed. The speed reached the standard, effectively verifying that the engine is at full speed. The compatibility between the compressor, combustion chamber, gas turbine, power turbine, accessory drive and other components and fuel control, lubricating oil, air, electrical and other systems in the range has found out the laws of engine rotor dynamics and vibration changes.
AES100 civil turboshaft engine adopts advanced compressor, turbo aerodynamic design, bearing co-cavity, under-ring oil supply, integrated accessory drive and other structural design technologies. It is a civil turboshaft engine with international advanced level.
In view of the fact that there are many mountainous plateau environments in China, AES100 has a large design power margin, which can meet the demand of Daocheng Yading Airport, the highest civil airport in China, at an altitude of 4,411 meters. AES100 is towed by the power requirements of 5-6 ton civil helicopters. It is also suitable for 3 ton single-engine civil helicopters. Compared with the previous engines of the same type, the fuel consumption is reduced by about 10%; the service life is increased from 1000 hours to 3000 hours.

The development of aero-engines is difficult, has a long cycle, and has a large investment. Before mass production, more than 40 prototypes must be trial-produced. The prototype test time needs to exceed 10,000 hours, and the component test time reaches hundreds of thousands of hours. Before the aircraft is delivered, there are three very important plan documents to be signed and completed, namely the Partner for Safety Plan (PSP), the Project Specific Certification Plan (PSCP) and the verification plan (Certification Plan , referred to as CP), they play a very important role in the type certification process.
China Aviation Engine Research Institute completed the signing of the AES100 engine PSP and the approval of all 30 CPs in December 2018 and March 2021, clarifying the cooperation relationship, methods and methods of the bureau and the applicant in the full life cycle of AES100. Principles , determine the AES100 engine airworthiness compliance verification ideas, airworthiness compliance work items and advancement plans.
The most critical PSCP agreement was signed on July 9, 2021, which further clarified the principles and plans for the follow-up AES100 engine forensics activities. The two parties will strengthen the allocation of resources and carry out the forensics related to the plan according to the content and guiding principles of the PSCP. Verification and review work to promote the airworthiness certification of AES100 engine.
At present, the airworthiness of AES100 engine is advancing steadily, and it is planned to obtain the China Civil Aviation Airworthiness Certificate in 2024.
