Specifications for the use of micrometers

The micrometer often used in work, the scientific name should be called screw micrometer, it is made according to the principle of screw amplification, that is, the screw rotates once in the nut, and the screw advances or retreats along the direction of the rotation axis by a distance of one pitch.

Therefore, the small distance moved along the axis can be expressed by the reading on the circumference. So how is such a precise instrument made, and how much do you know about its usage skills?

Today I will give you a big summary of knowledge!

This is the first time I have seen the manufacturing process of this precision measuring tool in my hand for so many years, how about you?

First, let's take a look at the most common vernier micrometers.

❖ Standard mechanical outside micrometer

The names of each part and the names of main components are shown in the figure below:

The distance p (p=0.5mm) that the mandrel makes one revolution is divided into 50 equal parts by the differential tube (scale), so that the reading of one scale is 0.01mm.

The resolution is 0.001mm, and the distance of one revolution of the mandrel is 0.5mm, which is divided into 500 points by the sensor (rotor, stator), 0.5mm÷500=0.001mm.

In addition to the above two common micrometers, there is another kind of outer diameter micrometer with a counter.

The force measuring device of the micrometer is also one of the very important components. Reasonable use can increase the life of the micrometer and improve the measurement accuracy.

Precautions when using micrometer products

Now that the basic structure and reading method of the micrometer have been introduced, add the editor WeChat Yuki7557 to get the 10G CNC tutorial. The next most important thing is the precautions when using the micrometer product and the maintenance and maintenance of the micrometer.

1. Carefully check the type, measurement range, accuracy, and other specifications to select the appropriate model for your application.
2. Before measuring, leave the micrometer and workpiece at room temperature long enough for their temperature to equilibrate.
3. Look directly at the reference line when reading the micrometer cylinder reticle. If the tick marks are viewed from an angle, the correct position of the lines will not be read due to visual errors.

4. Adjust the starting point (zero) before measurement, and wipe the measuring surface of the anvil and micrometer screw with a lint-free paper.

5. As part of routine maintenance, wipe off any dust, debris and other debris from the surrounding environment and from the measurement surfaces. Also, carefully wipe away any stains and fingerprints with a dry cloth.

6. Use the force measuring device correctly so that the measurement is performed at the correct force.

7. When mounting the micrometer to the micrometer stand, the stand should be clamped firmly in the center of the micrometer bezel. But don't clamp too tightly.

8. Be careful not to drop or bump the micrometer into anything. Do not turn the micrometer screw with excessive force. If you feel that the micrometer may be damaged due to accidental misuse, you need to further check its accuracy before use.
9. After a long period of storage or with a protective oil film, wipe the micrometer lightly with a cloth soaked in anti-corrosion oil.

10. Precautions for storage: Avoid direct sunlight when storing. Store in a well-ventilated, low-humidity place. Add Xiaobian WeChat Yuki7557 to get 10G CNC tutorial, and store it in a dust-free place. If stored in a box or other container, the box or container should not be placed on the ground. During storage, there should be a gap of 0.1mm to 1mm between the measuring surfaces. Do not store the micrometer in a clamped state.

Maintenance of micrometer products during use

First: carefully wipe off the dirt and fingerprints on various parts with a dry cloth.

If it is stored for a long time and dry without oil, wipe a thin layer of oil with a cloth stained with anti-rust oil. Although this may leave oil stains and spots on the alloy measurement surface, if it is not used for a long time, do so It will guarantee the long-lasting performance of your micrometer.

Finally, when storing the micrometer, be sure to pay attention to the following points.

1. When saving, pay attention to keep it in a place without direct sunlight, less humidity, good ventilation and less dust.

2. Remember to store it in a storage box, not directly on the ground.

3. The most important point: Open the space between the two measurement surfaces by about 0.1-1mm for storage, and do not lock the fastening device at the same time to prevent failure during storage.
