Sudden! ASML is moving out, the Netherlands is anxious!

According to foreign media reports, ASML (ASML), the leader in the lithography machine industry, disclosed its plan to move the company out of the Netherlands. After learning the news, the Dutch government immediately couldn't sit still and urgently established an emergency meeting with Prime Minister Mark Rutte ( A task force led by Mark Rutte is trying to retain ASML.

According to reports, the main factor behind ASML's desire to leave the Netherlands is the Netherlands' "anti-immigration policy."

In November 2023, after winning the election, the Dutch Liberal Party announced its views on anti-immigration, reducing the number of overseas students, and leaving the European Union.

However, about 40% of ASML's employees are not Dutch, especially in R&D and other departments that employ a large number of international students for a long time.

ASML CEO Peter Wennink publicly stated in January this year that he was very worried about the continued deterioration of the business environment in the Netherlands, and if he could not find enough talents in the Netherlands, he "will move to places where development can be achieved."

An ASML spokesperson also made the latest public statement that he is indeed considering the company's future, but did not disclose specific ideas.

It is said that ASML is considering going to France.

On the day the news broke, Dutch Economic Minister Adrian Sens confirmed that he planned to hold negotiations with Wennink that day. He also said that the Dutch government would conduct intensive dialogue with ASML to find a solution for ASML to continue to stay in the Netherlands.

Dutch media reported that the Dutch government has urgently established a special working group, codenamed "Beethoven Plan" (Beethoven Plan), specifically responsible for retaining ASML. Prime Minister Mark Rutte personally leads this working group.
