1. Types of tool setting devices

There are many types of tool setting devices used in machining centers, which can be divided into the following types in terms of their functions.

(1) Measurement category includes dial indicator, dial indicator and lever indicator. It is mainly used to determine the orientation of the reference plane for positioning tools and fixtures.

(2) Visual inspection-including electronic sensors, eccentric shafts, inspection rods, etc. It is mainly used to determine the coordinate position of the workpiece and fixture on the machine tool table.

(3) The automatic measurement category mainly includes the automatic measurement system of the machine tool.

2. Use of tool setting device in machining center

Measurements are commonly used in machining, so I won’t describe them here. The principle and use of the visual tool setting device are introduced below.

(1) Electronic sensor The structure of the electronic sensor. Clamp it on the spindle during use, and its axis coincides with the spindle axis. Manual feed is used to slowly bring the standard steel ball close to the workpiece. At the moment when the steel ball contacts the workpiece positioning reference surface, the machine tool, the workpiece, and the electronic The circuit composed of the sensor is connected, the indicator light is on, and the position of the reference is determined.

When the electronic sensor is used, the position is determined by human eyes, and the random error is large, and the operation needs to be repeated several times to determine its correct position. The repeated positioning accuracy is within 2pm.

Note: When using the electronic sensor, you must be careful to make its steel ball contact the workpiece, and the workpiece to be processed must be a good conductor, and the positioning reference surface has a good surface roughness.

2) Eccentric shaft-The eccentric shaft uses the principle of centrifugal force to determine the position of the workpiece, and is mainly used to determine the working coordinate system and measure the length, aperture, and groove width of the workpiece. The use process is as follows.

Clamp the eccentric shaft on the main shaft of the machine tool with the measuring end at the bottom. Set the spindle speed in the range of 400-600r/min, and keep the eccentricity of the measuring end about 0.5mm. The measuring end is in contact with the workpiece end and gradually approaching the end surface of the workpiece. The measuring end is gradually changed from swing to relatively static. At this time, the micro-motion feed is used until the measuring end is eccentric again. Repeat the operation several times to make the positioning accuracy within Within 3pm, according to the diameter of the measuring end, the position of the workpiece can be determined. When using an eccentric shaft, the spindle speed should not be too high. When it exceeds 600r/min, the error will be larger due to its own structure. The positioning reference surface should have good surface roughness and straightness to ensure positioning accuracy.
