Why use copper to make bullets instead of steel?

A bullet consists of four parts: cartridge case, warhead, propellant, and primer. The propellant is made of chemical raw materials, and the materials used in the other parts can be completely different.

Bullet cases in Europe and the United States are generally made of copper, but domestic bullet cases are generally made of steel. Why is this?

What is the difference between copper and steel? Will the lethality and range be different?

If you want to understand this, the video below will explain it clearly to you.

Using copper to make bullets mainly takes into account the advantages of copper:

1. Extensibility, which means easy to process,

2. Flexibility. After the propellant is ignited, it will not be easily deformed or torn under high pressure and heat.

3. The surface is smooth and dense, and can not rust under various complex weather conditions. This is the advantage of copper compared with steel. But there are also disadvantages, that is, the cost is higher than steel.
