Vernier caliper is an instrument commonly used in industry to measure length. It can be directly used to measure workpieces with high precision, such as the length, inner diameter, outer diameter and depth of the workpiece. Many people use it in their daily work, and all gold fans are familiar with it. The vernier caliper seems simple, but do you really use it correctly? Let's take a look at the correct use of vernier calipers today!

Precautions for using calipers
M type standard caliper example:
Precautions before use
1. Use a small amount of micrometer lubricant to wipe the reference end surface and sliding parts.

2. Move the ruler frame throughout the entire stroke to confirm whether it is stuck, etc.
3. After cleaning the measuring surface, make it fit and confirm the following:
■Outer measurement surface: When aiming at the light source, it is normal that the light cannot be seen. (figure 1)
Sometimes light can be seen when it doesn't fit perfectly due to stains, chips or burrs. (figure 2)
■Inside measurement surface: When aiming at the light source, it is normal to see only a little light. (figure 1)

■Please confirm the reference point. (image 3)

Precautions during use
1. When reading the scale, please aim your eyes at the front and pay attention to the parallax. (Figure 4)

2. When measuring, please use a certain amount of force and try to measure at the base of the measuring claw. (Figure 5)

3. Please do not measure when the measuring surface is tilted. (Figure 6)

Precautions after use
1. After use, confirm whether there is any damage to each part and clean the whole thing.
When using it in places where water-soluble cutting oil is attached, be sure to perform anti-rust treatment after cleaning.

2. Open the outer measuring claw about 0.2~2mm, and store it without tightening the tightening screw. (Figure 7)
3. Do not store in places with high temperature, high humidity, dust and oil.
*If using a digital caliper, please remove the battery if it is not used for a long time.
