How does water get into the engine? search
The engine can be said to be a highly precise mechanical part, and there are gaskets, sealing rings, etc. between each assembly. Even the oil cannot flow out of the instrument. Is it possible for water to penetrate?
Of course not, unless your engine sealing has become a big problem. However, this kind of engine is generally the kind of broken machine with frequent failures, shaking, and flameout!
As long as it is a good engine, it will not penetrate, but water may still enter the engine compartment, why?
Maybe, because the engine still has two ports, one outlet and one inlet, which is what we often call intake and exhaust. And that's where the water gets into the engine!
Many cars have different arrangements for the air intake depending on the layout of the engine, but most of the exhaust is unified and hung at the rear. However, after the engine is turned off after wading, water will enter the engine. It is not the water entering the air intake, but the water entering caused by the sucking back of the exhaust port.
Let's take a look at the air intakes of several typical engines▼

It can be seen from these pictures that the air intake of the engine will have certain protection devices. It is to ensure that water will not enter the air intake so easily, so as long as you don't use a water gun to spray water vigorously at the air intake, it will not enter the air intake.
So it can be washed casually? Of course not, flushing the engine compartment is still tricky!
1. The water pressure should not be too high
Consequence: Destruction of the circuit
picture
Since there are various circuits and electronic components in the engine compartment, such as motors and fuse boxes, if the water pressure is too high, a slightly damaged circuit will cause a short circuit.
2. Do not flush the engine when it is high temperature
Consequence: Cylinder burst
picture
After the car runs at high speed or for a long time, the temperature of the engine will be very high. Moreover, it is summer now, and it is not a problem to fry eggs casually. At this time, washing with water will cause the engine block to burst due to thermal expansion and contraction. In this way, repairing is a trivial matter, and the engine can be replaced directly!
3. Do not wash the headlights with a high-pressure water gun
Consequences: Severe fogging of headlights

Now many car owners are confused why the headlights of new cars fog up after car washing, and water vapor can be clearly seen.
Even vacuum headlights must have small holes for ventilation to dissipate the heat of the headlights. Under the pressure of the high-pressure water gun, some water will still be "pressed" into the lampshade, which is very difficult to remove!
If the headlights have been modified, do not flush the headlights. If the original car headlight assembly is pried open, and then replaced with various high-brightness headlights, the sealing performance of the headlights will often be greatly reduced. Therefore, car owners try not to wash the position of the headlight assembly with water. When washing the engine compartment, they must also be careful not to splash water on the modified headlights, so as to prevent the lights from entering the water and turning them into "goldfish bowls".

Finally, the engine compartment is washed and the odor is removed. We only need to dry the water in the engine compartment with a towel, then start the engine, and use the heat of the engine to "steam dry" the water in the engine compartment! Therefore, it is not that the engine cannot be cleaned, but it needs to be cleaned skillfully. Have you got it?
