In machining, precision and speed always restrict each other. When roughing, we need to favor speed; when finishing, we favor precision.
In fact, in the system, we have special codes to allow users to choose the focus.
G187 Set Smoothing Level (Group 00)
G187 is a precision command that sets and controls the smoothness and maximum fillet value while cutting the workpiece. The format for using G187 is G187 Pn Ennnn.
P controls the level of smoothing, P1 (rough), P2 (medium), or P3 (finish).
E Adjust the Maximum Corner Rounding value, temporarily overriding Setting 85 Maximum Corner Rounding.
When G187 is not active, Setting 191 sets the default smoothness for the user as Rough, Medium or Finish. The "Medium" setting is the factory default setting. NOTE: Changing Setting 191 to Finishing will require more time to machine the workpiece. Use this setting only when optimum finishing is desired.
G187 Pm Ennnn Set smoothness and maximum rounding value.
G187 Pm sets the smoothness without changing the maximum rounding value.
G187 Ennnn sets maximum rounding without changing smoothness. G187 by itself cancels the E value and sets the smoothness to the default smoothness specified by Setting 191. G187 will be canceled when the RESET key (RESET) is pressed, M30 or M02 is executed, the program execution ends, or the emergency stop key (EMERGENCY STOP) is pressed.
Users can choose the most suitable processing mode according to their needs, so as to improve processing efficiency.
In terms of CAD/CAM software, the modification of CAD models has become more and more convenient, and the CAM software has become more and more intelligent. New machining strategies such as dynamic milling give users the opportunity to achieve very high metal removal rates, which can significantly increase machining efficiency.

In terms of algorithms, some CAM software (such as AUTODESK FUSION360) can optimize a large number of G01 codes to the greatest extent, and output G02/G03 codes with the same precision when the amount of codes is greatly reduced, so that the machine can execute more efficiently. Fast, thereby improving processing efficiency.
The selection of G187 (processing mode) can be opened by software, or manually added to the processing program according to the previous instructions. For the same processing program and processing machine, turning on the rough machining mode (G187 P1) may save 20% of the execution time compared with the default medium mode (G187 P2), and a very obvious difference can be seen by choosing the correct processing mode.

If you find that there are dents in the corner after finishing with the default medium mode (G187 P2), then you may need to learn about the finishing mode (G187 P3). After watching the video below, not only will you be able to solve the current problem, but it will also teach everyone his favorite corner clearing strategy.
