Taboos in the application of milling tools Taboos in the application of end milling tools for complex curved surfaces of titanium alloys

Titanium alloy is a metal material with high specific strength, good corrosion resistance and high heat resistance. It is widely used in the aerospace industry, such as high-temperature titanium alloys for aircraft engines and structural titanium alloys for fuselages. However, titanium alloy cutting is particularly difficult. Its deformation coefficient is small, the cutting temperature is high, the tool is easy to wear, the cutting force per unit area is large, and the cold hardening phenomenon is serious. It is recognized as a difficult-to-process material. When processing complex curved surfaces of titanium alloys, end mills are generally not used for fine processing, but end mills are used for rough processing. When rough processing of complex structural curved surfaces of titanium alloys, it is best not to use large-diameter end mills. The reason is that when using large-diameter end mills to mill titanium alloys, the cutting resistance is large, it is easy to produce bonding, and the tool is easy to wear; second, when using large-diameter end mills for rough processing, the remaining allowance is extremely uneven, which is not conducive to subsequent fine processing. The correct method is to choose an end mill with a suitable diameter for roughing, which can not only ensure the efficiency of rough processing, extend the tool life, but also ensure the uniformity of the allowance left for fine processing. The specific application taboos are as follows. Taboos in the application of end milling tools for complex curved surfaces of titanium alloys (click on the picture to enlarge it)
