Direct-coupled spindles are used more frequently in high-speed machining centers and drilling and tapping centers, and usually rotate at a speed of 12,000 rpm. Rotation speed and cutting force become an inversely proportional function. Basically, the higher the speed, the smaller the cutting force, so the cutting force of the direct-coupled spindle is not as good as that of the belt-type spindle. Belt-type spindles are more stable and have great advantages in processing some workpieces that require high surface finish. Machining centers using direct-drive spindles basically focus on processing small parts and products without heavy cutting.


The belt-type spindle has a wide range of uses, ranging from small machining centers to large vertical machining centers and gantry machining centers. The speed of the belt-type spindle generally does not exceed 10,000 rpm. The higher the speed, the greater the noise, but the belt-type spindle has a stronger force and is very suitable for heavy cutting, so it is widely used in large machining centers.


Compared with the above two spindles, the electric spindle is the latest type of spindle. This kind of spindle has a very high speed, even 50,000 revolutions. It is not difficult. However, as mentioned above, the higher the speed, the lower the cutting force. This kind of electric spindle speed is indeed the fastest, but the cutting force is the smallest, and it can almost only be used for milling.


It can be said that foreign countries are fully ahead of the country in terms of electric spindles. The maximum speed of foreign electric spindles can reach hundreds of thousands. This kind of machining center with ultra-high-speed electric spindle is called ultra-high-speed machining center. But its practical use may not be as good as the direct-drive spindle.


When we select the electric spindle, we must pay attention to the corresponding application. The interface of different applications is different. It is critical to find out the power requirements of the working conditions and the corresponding speed at this power. Because it is also 1kW, the dimensions of the electro-spindle are quite different under the requirements of 1000 rpm and 10,000 rpm, and the difficulty of designing the electro-spindle is also different, so the working conditions must be accurate.
